Dental Implant
A dental implant is a titanium shaped screw surgically placed in the jawbone to support a dental prosthesis (crown, bridge, denture). The basis for modern dental implants is a biologic process called osseointegration, in which titanium forms an intimate bond to the bone. Success or failure of implants depends on the health of the person receiving the treatment, drugs that affect the chances of osseointegration, and the health of the tissues in the mouth. Meticulous surgical planning and surgical skills are fundamental to improve and speed up the healing process.
